Bushy Park submits application for "INSTALLATION OF PAY & DISPLAY PARKING MACHINES, ANCILLARY SIGNAGE, AND WOODEN BOLLARDS AT THREE CAR PARKS AT BUSHY ROYAL PARK (THE DIANA CAR PARK, BROOM CLUMPS CAR PARK AND THE ‘CLAPPERSTILE’ CAR PARK LOCATED OUTSIDE THE PARK WALL TO THE NORTH WEST).
The poles above the ticket machines will be almost 10 feet high. At the top of each one will be a bright green triangular sign displaying a “Please Pay Here” notice. These will shine out across the whole park like beacons

The Royal Parks released an “independent analysis …..on the consultation responses to proposed parking charges…” They received over 16,000 signatures in total voting against car parking charges

 

28th April 2009

Dr. Vince Cable and representatives from the Alliance took the petition with over 6,500 signatures to The Royal Parks headquarters. The group was angry when no senior member of Royal Parks management would have the courtesy to accept it. It was handed to the receptionist.

 

18th April 2009

A protest march organised by the Alliance took place in Bushy Park from the Diana Car Park to the Upper Lodge Car Park. It was led by Dr. Vince Cable M.P. who in a speech there urged the Royal Parks to abandon the plan.

 

February 2009

The Keep Bushy Park Free Alliance was set up by The Friends of Bushy & Home Parks, Hampton Hill Assoc., Hampton Society, Hampton Wick Assoc., Molesey Residents Assoc., Esher & Walton Conservative Association and the Teddington Society to raise a petition urging the Royal Parks to keep the park free of car park charges.
